Name/Work Name: Bishop Frau (Zehel)/Niklaren “Niko” (Zare)
Canon: 07-Ghost
Canon Point: End of chapter 70 and beginning of chapter 71
AU/CRAU: No
Age: 24
History: http://07ghost.wikia.com/wiki/Frau/History
Personality:
Frau’s personality is a very complex mix of what he shows externally and what he keeps carefully hidden inside. Externally Frau is a little kid in an adult’s body; in many ways he never truly grew up. He takes risks for the mere thrill of it and disregards all of the rules and most authority figures without the least bit of concern. His cross pendant is actually a lighter in disguise, and he hides porn in his robes and just about everywhere else he can. Drinking and swearing are completely acceptable to him as well. He teases others continually with his typical high and mighty attitude and cocky smile. Frau openly uses degrading nicknames for people, including his superiors. He’s incredibly self-assured, especially about his looks. In his mind, what woman wouldn’t want him? This works in his favor since he spends any time he can get away from the church in brothels. Frau pretty much makes it his job to flirt with every woman around. He even flirts with all of the nuns in the church.
Outwardly he hardly takes anything seriously. However, he does have a very large sense of responsibility, especially toward other people. He has a rather impressive level of insight when he actually cares to use it and share it. Frau truly does have all of the characteristics necessary for a bishop, a really, really good one (especially for mentoring young people). The problem is he chooses not to live that life and only reveals his gentle wisdom when it’s absolutely necessary. Frau really does care for other people; however, he refuses to let anyone see that. His deep desire to help people comes from an early event in his life. As a child he’d suffered the loss of his friends from an attack on the sky pirates. He turned away from God then and began to see the world without any hope. Frau suffered tremendously from this, but he found that his heavy heart was lightened somewhat when he helped others. He’s continued to hide his tender-heartedness, but he constantly goes out of his way to aid another person. In fact, Frau is so determined to help other people that he’d willingly sacrifice himself for them. Everyone else is far more important than he is.
His looks, behavior, and unrestrained personality can easily lead people to think he’s some kind of delinquent and criminal. In reality he’s a bit of a softy and is very tenderhearted, though he definitely has a lot of delinquent in him too.
On the outside, Frau has a very strong personality; however, he hides all of the flaws and pain he feels deep inside. This can create some problems for him. He rarely reveals what he’s actually feeling, especially if it’s negative emotions. Frau also keeps his past concealed from everyone. It takes a lot to break through and actually get to know him. The only thing most people see is his more obvious personality of cockiness and charm (and his inherent ability to annoy anyone he feels like). Since Frau doesn’t willingly share information about himself, he suffers through the burdens that he carries on his own. Even when they become so heavy he can barely stand under their weight, he tends not to allow others to help him. Instead, he will keep up a brave, almost impenetrable front around other people and then take off at the soonest possible moment to be alone.
He has a very clear sense of justice which is revealed more often than anything else. Frau seeks out those who have fallen and been corrupted and frees them, or in the case of those who truly did wrong, he consumes them. He can be both incredibly cold and exceedingly caring depending on the type of person he’s dealing with when he’s meting out justice. It’s almost contradictory however since he’s in his own battle with darkness.
Frau is the wielder of Verloren’s scythe. Being a part of the God of Death, the scythe is malevolent and basically has its own consciousness. The scythe is continually eating away at Frau’s soul, corrupting him from within. The scythe consumes human souls, and as a result, so does Frau. However, Frau is fighting against its influence with all his might. He restricts himself to consuming only the souls of people who are corrupted.
Unfortunately, the scythe is winning. Frau knows he has very little time left. Already the scythe is altering his personality at times. When the desire for a good soul gets too strong, Frau begins to lose control. He becomes almost giddy with desire for a soul, and his outward appearance changes to something sinister. Despite the beaming smile of pointed teeth, when Frau is under the scythe’s influence even someone who doesn’t know him could pick out that he’s not someone you want to screw with. He’s dark, dangerous, and evil. If color could represent a personality, black would be it for a scythe controlled Frau. In fact, the aura pouring off Frau all of the time is a black that’s darker than night. Under the scythe’s control, Frau begins to have trouble distinguishing between right and wrong. The scythe is becoming so strong that all of these traits can drastically increase when Frau loses complete control and the scythe takes over. So far he has been able to recognize when this is happening and get control over the scythe again. Eventually the scythe will totally consume his human soul and seek to return to Verloren and aid him, using Frau in the process. Just like with Frau’s kind side, he never reveals to another person his struggles with the scythe or his pain from fighting it. It’s not easy for him to know that he’s going to fall and become what he’s spent his adult life fighting. It’s even harder to hear the wars and kor that he destroys call him a kinslayer. He’s not one of them yet, but it’s only a matter of time and part of him knows bits of him are already one of them now.
Debt:
Being how Frau’s far more out of it than he is totally coherent thanks to the scythe almost devouring him and Ayanami nearly killing him, he really doesn’t realize what he’s about to do with this contract signing. About all he can think about is getting back to Teito. Since he’s already there and can get a decent wish out of it too (which he would probably realize is a really BAD IDEA in a coherent state, especially since sticking around to actually get the wish means he can’t get back as fast) he decides he can use that to his advantage and asks for Teito’s freewill to never be subverted by anything or anyone else. After all, he’d pretty much do anything for Teito and he’s just failed the kid miserably. With his brain as fuzzy as it is, he signs the contract to get back to Teito and get the kid some extra protection without truly realizing what he’s doing. Oops.

Inventory:
Frau arrives on his hawkzile (which he is not going to be happy giving up even if it is incredibly battered, darn it!) wearing his usual clothing of a long black, leather trench coat, black gloves, almost knee high combat type boots, and black pants. He also has a fuzzy white coat that looks rather beat up. He has on his cross/lighter pendant, bishop’s collar, and an assortment of earrings. He’s also got a few volumes of porn hidden in his coat. They are important necessities for bishops, okay? There are also a few random things in his pockets like money, his bishop pass, and cigarettes.
Abilities:
In Frau’s world of Barsburg, certain people are capable of using an ability called zaiphon. Zaiphon is a manifestation of life energy that can be used to fight or defend as well as to heal. Frau uses mainly an offensive type causing explosions and slashes of power. Basically zaiphon looks like a string of chicken scratch (the writing of Barsburg) glowing a faint blue. The appearance of zaiphon, however, can change based on the words that make it up. For example, zaiphon made with “anger” is spiky and feels painful even without touching it. Frau uses his zaiphon with the scythe more often than simply by hand.
Frau is also one of the seven ghosts of his world. The seven ghosts are pieces of the god of death, Verloren, who committed a crime against the chief of heaven and fled to earth. Each ghost has part of this death god’s power. Frau’s ghost is Zehel, the ghost of severing. Zehel is capable of severing bonds between people’s souls and the bonds the kor might place on souls during the course of fulfilling a wish. Typically this is used to free someone’s soul who has died and is unable to return to heaven. As Zehel, Frau can activate the abilities of his ghost where his spirit leaves his body and takes on the form of Zehel (a skeletal figure in a black cloak). In this form he is able to walk through walls and float around. Only those who can see spirits or the like would know he’s there. However, becoming Zehel leaves Frau’s body as a soulless doll. Being Zehel also allows him to alter and seal away memories, though that’s only used to remove any memory of seeing or interacting with him as Zehel.
Verloren’s scythe is Frau’s biggest weapon. The scythe resides in Frau’s arm and is partially sentient. At times it has summoned itself and caused anywhere from a little bit of trouble to near disaster. It functions basically like any other blade, and Frau is very good at wielding it. The scythe is literally able to cut anything, even spiritual chains that shouldn’t be able to be broken. As an added bonus, or perhaps detraction, the scythe corrupts its user and eats souls.
Aside from supernatural type abilities, Frau is physically strong. He can easily jump rather high and has survived a jump out of one of the top floors of a cathedral while carrying two kids without so much of a scratch. He can also run down walls without an issue and kick in doors (because manners like knocking? Who needs those?). As a whole, he’s incredibly quick when he wants to be.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
One of Frau’s greatest strengths is his ability to protect people thanks to the abilities listed above. He also simply has a large desire to do it since protecting people makes his heart feel lighter. Not only can he protect them physically, he can also provide great advice and insight that can protect someone he cares about or turn them down the right path. Of course he uses this strength rather sparingly and is typically just a pain in the ass. His kindness is part of his strength, and that’s one of the things that lead him to help people, take care of children, and protect those he cares about.
Frau also has extremely large willpower. He’s had a seriously evil scythe eating away at his soul for years and still hasn’t given in to it yet. He fights the scythe with every last fiber of his being and clings to every scrap of humanity he can even though he knows what the inevitable end will be. His willpower also makes it possible for him to accomplish anything he wants because somehow he will find a way.
His disregard for authority and societal expectations is also a strength for him. He doesn’t really care what anyone thinks of him and he’s going to do what is necessary regardless of whether it’s going to piss people off. He knows his own heart and is going to follow what he thinks is right. When it’s an instance that doesn’t involve right or wrong he’ll just do whatever the heck he wants to do.
Frau’s vast skillset also comes in handy for him and becomes a strength in many situations. He has a lot of experiences that pretty much make him at home anywhere he goes. His greatest skill would be with a hawkzile, however. He’s known how to fly for ages, works on his own machine, and feels most comfortable in the air.
Zaiphon is Frau’s greatest strength. Even as a child he had an exceptionally high level of skill with it and could overpower even full-fledged bishops. He was removing kor long before he took his bishop’s exam, and had figured it out just from watching. During his exam his zaiphon was so powerful that instead of simply eliminating his own darkness he wiped away the darkness of every examinee.
Truly pure souls are a weakness for Frau. The scythe craves them and when it doesn’t get them it can make life hell for Frau. Usually his arm burns like it’s on fire and his willpower is truly tested. Corrupted souls are also a type of weakness for him. While they do satisfy the scythe to a certain extent, they taste terrible and leave Frau feeling disgusted and dirty. It’s just a reminder of how far he has fallen.
The scythe, while definitely a strength because of its abilities, is a weakness as well. It’s continually consuming Frau and fighting against him. One day it’s inevitably going to win. Until then Frau has to be aware and on guard against it at all times. The scythe can also disobey Frau, which causes him some serious problems. When it’s being particularly disobedient it can make Frau’s arm feel like it’s on fire and at times feel so heavy Frau can barely move his arm.
Frau’s loneliness and isolation are huge weaknesses. He purposefully pushes people away, even those he trusts and cares about. It usually ends up breaking him apart even though he doesn’t show it on the outside. Just because he’s not showing it doesn’t mean he isn’t suffering though. He’s lost a lot, and his fate isn’t going to be a pleasant one. Just because he has good reason to push people away doesn’t mean it’s easy for him to live that way.
A serious weakness for Frau is the cold. Being dead, he can’t regulate his body heat at all. If the temperature drops below freezing his body can quite literally freeze over and become a “Fraucicle.” He’ll be fine once he thaws, but in order to move around in cold weather and even function he needs some kind of heat source with him all the time. Even mind cold can cause parts of his body to stiffen and barely move.

Characterization Sample:
Frau stood staring down at the pile of clothes in his arms and the uniform he was wearing with his mouth hanging open. What the hell had just happened? Castor would probably be berating him about how he was a complete moron and had gotten himself into serious trouble. Sadly Frau would probably have to agree (except for the part about being a moron. So he wasn’t as smart as the stupid four eyes but he wasn’t a complete idiot!). This whole mess had started with Labrador.
“Damnit, Lab! What the hell?!”
And yet he couldn’t really blame Lab even though the other bishop was the reason he was here. He’d decided to stay after all and try to get something useful out of… whatever this was. Not something for himself, he wasn’t worth the effort, but for Teito. It was his job to protect the kid, and he was going to do that in whatever way possible. Except…
“Damn brat! You’re a pain in my ass even when you aren’t here! You’re not worth my hawkzile!”
He might have reconsidered if he’d known he would lose that, damn it. Now he was trapped on the ground. That loss of freedom seriously stung. Deep down under all of the irritation Frau knew it would be worth it in the end if Teito benefited. The kid was worth anything, even Frau’s soul. That wasn’t going to stop him from being annoyed though, and he couldn’t help grumbling about it for a moment or two until he realized something else.
“And my porn is gone! One of those was a special edition too! Damn, witch! If I see you again I’m going to strangle you! Give me back my porn!”
Well, this was a vacation spot for spirits, so there had to be a pleasure district somewhere. He’d find it and replace his stock. Considering he wouldn’t have to hide it here he could even get a bigger collection. Maybe there were some benefits to being trapped here. Extra porn and no need to give mass. Okay, so maybe it wouldn’t be so bad… but he was still going to kill that damn witch! Stupid pain in the ass.
The scythe growled softly, and Frau returned the growl warningly.
“Just because I say I’m going to kill her doesn’t mean you can eat her!”

Background:
Frau was orphaned at a very young age, but still dreamed of joining his fellow sky pirates like his parents had. His dream finally became a reality; however, the Barsburg Empire attacked and destroyed the sky pirates. It was during his time with the sky pirates that the scythe was placed within Frau, and he was basically used by a turncoat ghost to find Verloren’s body. Since Frau was the only survivor of the sky pirate subjugation, he was brought to the church as an orphan. (At some point, likely before he joined the church, Frau did technically die since all of the seven ghosts are dead. So far, how and when this happened hasn’t been revealed in canon). The attack had destroyed faith in people and especially God because he’d wanted to fight with his friends to the end. Instead he was left behind. To this day he has no faith in God and isn't even sure the person even exists. Ever since he was a child, Frau had extremely high talent with Zaiphon (he was even better than the bishops as a kid). He holds the all time high score in the bishop’s exam of using zaiphon. He did fail the exam three years in a row because he didn’t know the scriptures and had no intention of learning them.
Frau became a bishop of Barsburg Church. However, he isn't your ordinary bishop. Frau has planted hidden books of porn in the church library and uses them all the time. He also smokes a lot and is very short with his temper. Frau doesn't think very highly of others, and will normally brush them off. He's a big tease and trouble maker as well. Frau hates doing anything actually related to the church; going to mass is torture for him and he'll do anything to get out of it. Frau also disobeys many other rules of the church, like eating meat. It’s one of the reasons he doesn’t get along well with Castor, a fellow bishop who punishes him all the time.
Unknown to most, Frau is one of the seven ghosts of the Barsburg Empire, Zehel. The ghosts are considered to be "messengers from God" and Gods themselves who were sent to defeat Verloren who came to earth from heaven. Verloren forced people to fall into despair. The seven ghosts were sent out to defeat and seal him, which they did. However, his power is still affecting the people and it is said that he is being freed so the ghosts still have work to do. Since he is one of the ghosts, Frau has died before.
He's officially dead still, his body is just used as a vessel for Zehel. This means that his body is always cold to the touch, which could be picked up by others if they actually manage to touch his skin. Because of that Frau can physically freeze solid if he gets too cold, though warmth will unthaw him.
The only one who Frau thinks has any chance to save him is Teito, a child running from the military who is actually the son of the last king of Raggs, Barsburg’s rival country. Frau has been working with Teito and mentoring him during his time at the church, and they’ve become quite fond of each other. It also helps that if Frau is away from Teito more than three days, the slave collar around the boy’s neck will explode. (This has since been removed.) When the military attempted to regain Teito, Frau’s mentor as a child Assistant Archbishop Bastien was revealed as a secret agent for them and attempted to kill Teito. Frau was forced to kill Bastien as Zehel. While he didn’t show it, Frau was rather distraught over Bastien’s death.
The more time that passes with Teito around, the more often Frau starts losing control. After Teito passes his bishop’s exam, Frau takes him on as an apprentice. Unfortunately, Teito’s soul is very desirable to the scythe, so Frau is typically in pain and struggles to hold the scythe in check. The two of them are traveling around Barsburg to visit all seven of the God Houses in order to help Teito get to the land of Seele and regain his memories. They’ve run into quite a few problems with the military, and mainly the Chief of Staff Ayanami (who just so happens to be Verloren’s reincarnation) and his host of warsfiel.
Some of the biggest problems include Frau attempting to eat Teito’s soul after he loses complete control of the scythe. Teito manages to bring him back to himself, but Frau is so ashamed of what happened that he disappears. When he finally returns, Teito ends up berating him severely and insists that no matter how many times the scythe takes control, he’ll pull Frau back out again.
The second major problem happens only days after that during the race they entered to easily travel through the districts to visit God Houses. Ayanami and his Black Hawks turn up unsuspected in the race. Frau and Teito are separated, each fighting on their own. Unfortunately, Ayanami is facing Teito, and he almost wins. Frau steps in at the last minute to hold Ayanami off, but he’s not strong enough. The scythe rebels and Ayanami attacks Frau with enough power to send him flying (and basically falling to a district incredibly far away). Ayanami takes Teito, and Frau is left for dead.
When he finally awakens, scaring the crap out of the people who found him and thought he was a dead body, he’s weak and very near death. That doesn’t stop him from being incredibly upset about losing Teito. If it weren’t for Castor and Labrador showing up, his temper tantrum could have killed him. The two manage to restrain Frau, heal him, and form a plan to get Teito back.
Abilities/Additional Notes:
In Frau’s world of Barsburg, certain people are capable of using an ability called zaiphon. Zaiphon is a manifestation of feelings that can be used to fight or defend as well as to heal. Frau uses mainly an offensive type causing explosions, slashes of power, or a ring around a victim’s neck that could easily take their head off if closed. Basically zaiphon looks like a string of chicken scratch (the writing of Barsburg) glowing a faint blue. The appearance of zaiphon, however, can change based on the words that make it up. For example, zaiphon made with “anger” is spiky and feels painful even without touching it. Frau uses his zaiphon with the scythe more often than simply by hand or with the typical bishop weapon of a bascule.
Frau is also one of the seven ghosts of his world. The seven ghosts are pieces of the god of death, Verloren, who committed a crime against the chief of heaven and fled to earth. Each ghost has part of this death god’s power. Frau’s ghost is Zehel, the ghost of severing. Zehel is capable of severing bonds between people’s souls.
Verloren’s scythe is Frau’s biggest weapon. The scythe resides in Frau’s arm and is partially sentient. At times it has summoned itself and caused anywhere from a little bit of trouble to quite a lot of trouble. It functions basically like any other blade, and Frau is very good at wielding it. As an added bonus, or perhaps detraction, the scythe corrupts its user and eats souls (see personality for more details)
Aside from supernatural type abilities, Frau is physically strong. He can easily jump rather high and has survived a jump out of one of the top floors of a cathedral while carrying two kids without so much of a scratch. As a whole, he’s incredibly quick when he wants to be.
Sample Journal Post:
[Voice]
So, anyone care to share a little bit of information with a newcomer? What type of entertainment does this place have? So far it seems like nothing, which would suck. I’m hoping that someone out there has seen fit to solve the problem that I’m already noticing.
[And he hasn’t even been here that long.]
I’m particularly interested in…
[There’s a rather long pause as he tries to figure out how best to word what he wants. Just saying porn outright would get him a kick in the head by Castor at the least and more likely that plus some slapping by Teito and Labrador too. He’s not overly hopeful that his “revised version” of the word will get past them, but he has to at least try. Porn is important enough to risk a head kick, gosh darn it!]
… reading material.
[This comes off rather hesitant, which might be a good indication with someone else with his interests to notice.]
I’d rather the stuff with pictures, but I’m willing to try something new if need be.
Sample RP:
Something was definitely wrong here. He may not have known what, exactly, was wrong, but something definitely was. Something big.
One minute the ceiling was caving in above him, and the next… Well, the next he couldn’t even begin to describe. It was like everything had become some strange mishmash. The world around him had seemed to fade, twist, and change into something totally different. It had left his head spinning, and only now was he starting to feel a little bit coherent. Except what he was seeing made him feel rather like he wasn’t thinking coherently. This wasn’t the first district.
“Gwaooo?”
“Yeah, I feel the same way.”
For once, Frau wasn’t worried about the scythe getting out of control and pulling something stupid. The weapon, which was out of his arm and in plain view, was just as confused as he was. Typically Frau didn’t just leave the weapon out, but until he knew the situation, he wanted to be fully prepared.
“What the hell happened here?”
The entire place was nearly destroyed, and looked like the remains of some long forgotten war. An uneasy thrill washed through him at that. The place looked like what he figured his own home looked like after the war. Frau quickly shoved that thought away. It wasn’t important. Figuring out where the hell he was and how he’d gotten here was. That was the first step in getting back to Teito. Teito. They’d finally seen each other again only to be ripped apart once more. Well, Teito obviously wasn’t going to find him despite how much he’d grown, which meant Frau would have to be the one doing the looking. He’d have to be the one doing the finding too, hopefully pretty fast since Teito had a tendency to get himself into trouble.
“I’m coming, you stupid brat.”
With that, Frau started off, eyes scanning the area almost constantly, his grip tight on the scythe. Whatever happened, he was ready. Bring it on.

Like this, Frau begins to have trouble distinguishing between right and wrong. So far he has been able to recognize when this is happening and get control over the scythe again. Just like with his kind side, he never reveals to another person his struggles with the scythe or his pain from fighting it.
Despite the beaming smile of pointed teeth, when Frau is under the scythe’s influence even someone who doesn’t know him could pick out that he’s not someone you want to screw with. If color could represent a personality, black would be it for a scythe controlled Frau. In fact, the aura pouring off Frau all of the time is a black that’s darker than night. The scythe is becoming so strong, that all of these traits can drastically increase when Frau loses complete control and the scythe takes over. Frau’s been dragged back from this state once before, and he remembered nothing that had happened. Eventually the scythe will totally consume his human soul and seek to return to Verloren and aid him using Frau in the process.
Abilities/Strengths:
Aside from supernatural type abilities, Frau is physically strong. He can easily jump rather high and has survived a jump out of one of the top floors of a cathedral while carrying two kids without so much of a scratch. As a whole, he’s incredibly quick when he wants to be.
Frau’s main weapon is a scythe that resides within his right arm. This scythe originally belonged to Verloren and holds quite a bit of power. Since it is a death god’s scythe, it can also only be seen by those who have some kind of spiritual power and perhaps a few others. It is nearly sentient and strongly wants to eat souls, especially pure ones. The problem is, this scythe would do anything to get back to its master. No one besides Frau or Verloren has managed to survive using it. Unfortunately for Frau, the scythe is corrupting him. It has tainted his soul to an extreme level and will slowly eat away at him until he no longer has a human soul left. Because of this, Frau also eats souls, but he manages to keep it to only the souls of those who are corrupt. Frau’s desire to consume the souls of the pure continues to increase, but he resists knowing it will be the end of him. The scythe is what leads to Frau’s few lapses in control where he seems to become someone else entirely both physically and personality wise.
Frau has a very strong sense of self, even if that self is rather broken. He knows full well that he doesn’t fit in at the church, and he makes no moves to ever hide that fact. No matter what anyone says about him, Frau can simply brush it off as no big deal. He knows who and what he is and won’t change it for anyone, even if who he is goes against traditions and protocol. Even outside of the church, Frau doesn’t let anyone screw with him. He thinks very highly of himself and isn’t afraid to show that. It’s one of the reasons why Frau always does things his way, even if that way involves intimidating other people into getting what he needs.
He has also accepted the negative parts of himself. As part of the bishop’s exam, Frau had to face the darkness within him. Not only did he dispel his own darkness, he dispelled all of the other examinees’ darkness as well. He can still stand strong despite the fact that the scythe is destroying him, and he knows full well that his time is short.
Another strength Frau has isn’t so obviously seen. While he has a hard, confident exterior, Frau is actually very good at caring for people who need it, especially children. Out of nowhere, Frau can provide the few words needed to bolster a failing spirit, increase confidence, or calm and comfort someone. It doesn’t happen very often since Frau doesn’t feel the need to use it much though. However, he can be the solid, unshakable rock that a child needs to rely on in order to feel safe.
Weaknesses:
The scythe is both a strength and a weakness for Frau. He is constantly fighting to keep it in check, which is hard enough for him at this point in time. Unfortunately, there are certain people with pure souls that the scythe has a very strong desire to consume. When he’s around these people, that desire is almost painful to Frau, and it feels like it arm is on fire. One slip up could result in him eating someone with a pure soul which would destroy who he is forever.
Being dead, Frau is very susceptible to cold. He doesn’t have any body heat, so when the temperature drops his body can become stiff and difficult to move. In extremely cold temperatures, he can literally freeze solid. While his body is frozen, his “spirit” as Zehel is still capable of moving around like normal. However, every time Frau becomes Zehel, he leaves his body as an empty husk behind. If someone were to find it and want to destroy it, there would be nothing he could do unless his spirit/Zehel returned to his body in time to defend himself.
On the outside, Frau has a very strong personality; however, he hides all of the flaws and pain he feels deep inside. This can create some problems for him. He rarely reveals what he’s actually feeling, especially if it’s negative emotions. Frau also keeps his past concealed from just about everyone. It takes a lot to break through and actually get to know him. Since Frau doesn’t willing share information about himself, he suffers through the burdens that he carries on his own. Even when they become so heavy he can barely stand under their weight, he tends not to allow others to help him. Instead, he will keep up a brave, almost impenetrable front around other people and then take off at the soonest possible moment to be alone.
Defining Quote(s):
When the crucial moment comes, let’s skip mass.
I’m the one who has to protect you, no matter what happens!
[When asked if there was anything he could do/get for Frau] The insert of the porn book they sell tomorrow! They sell fast.
[Talking about God] Who does that moron think he is?
[When asked if he’s upset over his mentor’s death] Stuuuupid. What are you saying to a death god?
I’m an ally for the ladies of the world, Bishop Frau!
Grrr… just because you’re a bit smarter!
If we were to lose this beautiful body worthy of being a national treasure, it would break the hearts of young ladies worldwide.
Action Writing Sample:
[The video flicks on to reveal Frau surrounded by the flowers of Himorogi, including a few that are caught in his hair. There are a few bloodstains on him, but they are dried and the injuries that caused them healed. Despite the calming effects of the place, Frau looks a little bit irritated. Flowers aren’t his thing, and he has a right to be grumpy about it. If he were anywhere else, he would be a lot more than grumpy.]
Someone make yourself useful and tell me what district I’m in. Or what sector I’m in.
[The obvious anger in the growled words triggers the flowers to start creeping up his body again in an attempt to calm him. Frau just growls again, fed up with the stupid things. When he tries to draw the scythe to cut them all down though, he finds that he can’t. In fact, he can’t even get his left hand near his right arm, and the scythe seems almost completely asleep.]
What the hell?
[The flowers don’t need to calm Frau now. He’s too stunned over the fact that he can’t feel the scythe’s malicious energy eating away at him from within. It’s not possible. Nothing can destroy the scythe. He presses a hand to his forehead, feeling really out of sorts now. It has been a really, really long time since he’s felt so free.]
I’d say that I’m dead, only this isn’t where I’d end up if I was. Dammit. I have enough of a mess to deal with right now. I don’t need any more.
[It’s then that he realizes something. It’s not just freedom he feels. It’s light. A light that he’d thought he was going to lose forever. Frau’s eyes widen as he realizes what this means, and hope once again flares up inside of him.]
Teito.
[He isn’t very far away. The light is too bright, too real, for the distance between them to be that great.]
Third Person Writing Sample:
Everything felt so heavy. Frau couldn’t move, couldn’t open his eyes, and couldn’t even make sense of what was happening. His right arm felt like a lead weight slowly dragging him down. He couldn’t even struggle against it. What had happened? Why did everything hurt so much? Why was it so dark? Where was the light?
Teito. His light.
The minute the name came up, the image of Ayanami, a triumphant smile of victory on his face, flashed into Frau’s mind. Anger surged through Frau even in his weakened, nearly helpless state. Ayanami had taken Teito! Frau had failed to protect him. He’d lost him. Frau’s anger at Ayanami and self hatred over allowing this to happen exploded out of him, sending zaiphon shooting across the grounds of Himorogi, where he was currently lying.
Forcing his eyes open, Frau struggled to pull himself into a sitting position. It wasn’t easy with his own exhaustion and the flowers’ determination to hold him down after the fierce magic he’d let loose. Somewhere in the back of Frau’s mind he recognized that this place was like Labrador’s gardens. Peaceful, reassuring, calming. He could rest here and it would be okay, only he didn’t deserve that. Teito was in that man’s hands. Frau couldn’t just sit still and relax. No matter what, he would get the brat back. He would not fail.
“Dammit… let me… go. Freaking plants. I have to… get to Teito.”
Despite all of his struggles, it was useless. Frau was too hurt to win against the power of this place. Even as he felt himself being pulled back down, he continued to fight back. He may be on the verge of destruction, but that didn’t matter. Getting Teito back was what mattered, but unfortunately it seemed like it would have to wait. His anger was slowly fading away, and with it the drive to fight back. For some reason, it didn’t seem very important anymore, or at least not as immediate. It would be perfectly fine to just sleep and recover. Everything would turn out alright in the end. It had to.
